| drama. we all claim to hate it. run from it. yet when it finally chases us down, we surrender to it. embrace it. we writhe in it.
humans are incapable of living in a drama-free society. by nature, we are not peaceful. we always want. always crave. god can only give us so much. we live for the moment. the drama. but once in a while, you will come across someone who genuinely seeks peace. comfort. happiness. i never thought i'd actually meet such a person.
then i met joe... and i thank god everyday that i did.
happy four months. ;] | | |
| ...so yesterday, my nice quiet day at home was interrupted when joe called me up asking if i've seen the case for his bluetooth ear piece, and that if i'd mind looking around my side yard near the driveway to see if he had dropped it. reluctantly, i got up, turned off my psp, put nike on a leash, and walked outside to search. as soon as i step outside, what do i see?
joe holding a small bouquet of orange flowers. ;]
...he had his car parked down the street, about a block away, so i wouldn't see it if i just happened look outside my window. we agreed a couple of days before that he wouldn't be coming over because i had a crap load of stuff to do, and he was also in much need of rest. but alas, he insisted on being the dorkbutt who refuses to let a day go by without making me smile.
i'm truly blessed. | | |
| the backlash. have any of you experienced a hint of it yet?
there are entries all over the internet about how asians, especially south koreans, are being mistreated as a result of the media coverage on the gunman of the va tech massacre. surprisingly, people in nyc (or at least the folks with whom i've come in contact) have been acting as they normally would. i haven't overheard any conversations about the shootings or whispers on the train about the gunman's ethnicity. in my classes, when the subject of the va tech killings did come up, no one (professor or student) mentioned the fact that the gunner was south korean.
maybe it's different in nyc? or was i just lucky enough not to experience such ignorance that would precipitate after a horrendous act of a "fellow" minority?
i don't blame the media for "sensationalizing" the fact that the gunman was asian. they sensationalized everything else about him: his awkward social life, his mental illness, his meticulous planning, his self-praising manifesto. people shouldn't be so arrogant to assume that the media is the sole reason that there could/would be a backlash against the asian community... i blame humanity. racism will always exist. we function as a society by repressing these emotions and the ability to not act on our feelings.
why does it almost seem as if some people wait until a certain 'race'/ethnicity does something infamous as an excuse to bring out their internal malacy?
| har the psp collection. featuring the umd case that holds 4 games and the altoid can, which amazingly also holds 4 umds (how ghetto ;P).
monster hunter freedom (psp) is still the same price it was two years ago. and no wonder.. it's freakin' addicting. anyway, what originally started as a screenshot showcase turned into a full fledged video. too bad i was too lazy to use my real digicam. sorry for the low quality.
